Terry Baxter from NIRMA conducted an Emergency Response & Preparedness Training for Seward County employees on Thursday. Topics covered in the training included: the need for emergency preparedness, how to prepare for disasters, keys to success, county employee/supervisor responsibilities, and protection assessment. Seward County Emergency Manager, Gary Petersen stated "reviewing our plan is important; each individual has a responsibility to prepare for any incidents." Two sessions were offered throughout the day and the training was well-attended by employees. Seward County Sheriff, Joe Yocum commented on the training; "Terry Baxter validated many items that are in progress in Safety Committee. It was a great chance to have questions answered and receive feedback from employees; this information is crucial and updates are always needed to adapt to change."
